Old Geezer Carting World Championships
South Karelia is a district, where people are joyful and dedicated to having fun! That’s why it is no surprise that the Old Geezer carting World Championships was organized here! Next summer, in 2011, Old Geezer Carting is taking a break. If everything goes well, in 2012 there will be even bigger event and more series.
If you consider to participate the competition or the event in the future, here are some facts about the event:
Old Geezer World Championships equipment is traditional Finnish milk carts, which are arranged for all the participants by the competition organizers. The carter is a man, so called geezer, which can be on loan or your own. The pusher is a woman and the pushing style is freestyle. The championships are held on a 200 metres long track that resembles an old Finnish road; there is soft sand, a hill, curves and a water hazard on the way.
In addition to the World Championships, there has been a series for traditionally orientated pairs and groups/teams. There has been also a series for individuals; the race is performed alone, in other words one pusher, pushes the milk cart with a load around the whole course. The load for the milk cart will be a 40 litre container, which will be filled with water in the start area. The event has been hosted by Kulttuuripalvelu Kaiku Ky and its partners and a great number of local volunteers.
